Call for applications: AGA Research Foundation Chair

AGA invites applications for the new chair of the AGA Research Foundation. This position will serve as chair-elect starting June 1, 2021, and assume the chair position from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2025. Successful candidates will be selected based on their vision for the foundation and fundraising expertise.

Position description

The goal of the AGA Research Foundation chair is to help develop new programs that advance the strategic direction and raise funds for the foundation. The chair presides at all meetings of the foundation executive committee, provides guidance for foundation volunteers and staff, and also serves as a member of the AGA Institute Governing Board and the AGA Institute Executive Committee.

Responsibilities

  • The chair is active in the fundraising strategies of the foundation.
  • The chair oversees AGA Research Foundation’s commitment to furthering the approved strategic directions of the AGA Research Foundation Strategic Plan and AGA Strategic Plan.
  • The chair oversees and directs policy development of the AGA Research Foundation.
  • The chair is the chief spokesperson for the foundation and will routinely represent the foundation at AGA events including the Benefactors’ Dinner.
  • The chair is responsible for leading the foundation, developing consensus on issues and actions, recommending policies and directions to the governing board, and assuring consistency in organizational actions.

Requirements

A successful applicant will have a concise and clear vision for the future of the AGA Research Foundation. The applicant should highlight their fundraising experience (can include both within and outside of the AGA Research Foundation). The applicant should be an AGA member.
