Our AGA Research Foundation researcher of the month, Parambir Dulai, MD, is on a quest to help inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and their doctors select the right biologics from the many options available to them.
With his grant from the AGA Research Foundation, Dr. Dulai is using predictive modeling and machine learning to develop a point-of-care tool that helps patients decide between the biologics available to them. The tool walks patients through their probability of response and the risk-benefit ratio of each treatment option.
Dr. Dulai and his colleagues are already implementing the tool at the University of California, San Diego, and have seen the relief on their patients’ faces to have a resource that helps them with this important decision. We hope that all physicians will benefit from Dr. Dulai’s research in the near future!
