Meet our Researcher of the Month: Ana Maldonado-Contreras, MSc, PhD

Our AGA Research Foundation researcher of the month, Ana Maldonado-Contreras, MSc, PhD, has taken an adage from her childhood, “food is cheaper than medicine,” and turned it into a remarkable research career.

Inspired by her family and the role food had in her house growing up, Dr. Maldonado-Contreras is studying the pathways that food can trigger to promote immunity and health. Her goal is to provide evidence-based direction to physicians on diet and clinical outcomes to help them understand the role of food in managing gut health and confidently answer diet questions from their patients. Learn more about the work taking place in Dr. Maldonado-Contreras’s lab.

Watch Dr. Maldonado-Contreras share her passion for her research in the below video. We’re thrilled to support Dr. Maldonado-Contreras and her research through the AGA Research Foundation.
